Objective:

To revive a cult classic for modern audiences, reigniting nostalgia among long-time shmup fans while winning over a whole new generation with Platypus Reclayed’s handcrafted claymation charm. We needed creators who truly get retro, delivering content that felt authentic & hit the nostalgia nerve in a way only the right talent can.

Strategy:

We created a global influencer campaign that blended emotional nostalgia with high-impact discovery. Platypus came with a unique nuance, while the original still had a loyal fanbase, that community had been holding on quietly for nearly two decades. Reaching those long-time fans, tucked deep into niche retro pockets of the internet, required deep research & a smart, targeted approach.

So we handpicked creators who genuinely love retro shooters & quirky indies. Each brought something special: shmup mastery, nostalgic storytelling or clay-animated creativity that made the game shine.

Across platforms:

  • TikTok delivered massive awareness through “this game is made of clay” style shortform, with Brazil becoming a breakout region thanks to creators like Sharouspixie.
  • Twitch leaned into co-op chaos & shmup mastery, with highlights like German creator Dennsen86 beating the entire game live on stream, leading to a cool community moment.
  • YouTube anchored the game’s legacy with retrospectives & mini-documentary-style pieces, including Nostalgia Nerd pulling out his original Platypus copy for added authenticity.

On the organic side, we distributed over 400 keys, generating almost 1M additional views, drove 2,500+ extra clicks to Steam & shipped 27 Physical Press Kits worldwide, all while navigating the Trump tariffs! We worked with creators across NA, UK, Brazil, France & Germany & we exceeded our targets by 64%.

Good comms and tools with a strong focus on timelines, which was absolutely necessary given how buried we were in work getting the console versions out.
